On the day that the legendary actor Tom Hanks turns 67, we take a look and recommend some of his best movies to add to your watch list.
With a stellar career Hanks has been a mainstay in the movie industry for over 40 years. His first appearance came in the low budget slasher film He Knows Your Alone (1980), since then he has worked with some of the biggest directors, starred in TV shows and lent his voice to one of the most memorable animated characters ever. The success of Big (1988) established him on the Hollywood scene and he's never looked back, with his most recent work coming in Wes Anderson's Asteroid City (2023).

THE MONEY PIT (1986)
A young couple Walter Fielding (Tom Hanks) and Anna Crowley (Shelley Long) must buy a new house but can't afford much. After meeting a con-artist that sells them a mansion at a low price, the house starts to fall apart, causing them to have to renovate the house before it completely crumbles.
BIG (1988)
Josh Baskin (Tom Hanks) has a massive crush on Cynthia. After finding a Zoltar machine he wishes to be big. He wakes up the next day to find he is in an adults body and now has to learn how to be an adult, causing him to question if he wants to be a kid again.
SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE (1993)
After the death of his wife Sam Baldwin's (Tom Hanks) son calls a radio station to help his father move on with his life. After Sam pours his heart out on national radio, Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), feels an immediate attraction to Sam and is determined to track him down and meet him.
TOY STORY (1994)
When Andy's new toy, Buzz Lightyear, arrives on the scene Woody (Tom Hanks) feels threatened and jealous leading to a spatter of costly mistakes. This causes both of them to get lost and must find their way back before moving day arrives.
SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (1998)
Following the Normandy landings, Captain Miller (Tom Hanks) must lead members of the 2nd Ranger Battalion to find Private James Ryan, the last remaining son of 4. They must trek across war ridden France in search Ryan, in an attempt to bring him home to his mother.
YOU'VE GOT MAIL (1998)
Book superstore magnate Joe Fox (Tom Hanks) is massively affecting the local independent book shop store owned by Kathleen Kelly (Meg Ryan), and she could be forced to close. Blissfully unaware of this situation, the the two manage to come across each other again and fall in love over the internet.
THE GREEN MILE (1999)
On death row in a Southern Jail, giant prisoner John has a mystery power that seems to heal peoples illness'. Paul (Tom Hanks), a guard at the jail, must try to hold off on John's execution after realising the gift he possesses.
CAST AWAY (2000)
FedEx operations executive Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) finally gives girlfriend Kelly a ring before going on yet another business trip, but the flight experiences technical difficulties and goes down in the South Pacific. Chuck must survive, going through a range of emotions and has to try get off the island with the thought of Kelly keeping him determined. Oh, and he makes friends with a volleyball calling it Wilson.
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN (2002)
Twenty-one year old Frank Abignale (Leonardo DiCaprio) , discovers his talent at being a con-man. Possing as a doctor, lawyer and pilot; Frank becomes an obsession for FBI agent Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), who is desperate to track him down.
THE TERMINAL (2004)
Due to the collapse of his government, Victor Navorski (Tom Hanks), becomes stuck at JFK airport due to his papers no longer being valid. Making the airport his home, he develops friendships with the workforce and becomes a mainstay until the war in his country is over and he can leave.
